Our first task was to clear some of the Rose Apple Trees to allow more light, air and energy flow into our living areas, and areas that we felt were optimal for the cultivation and nurturing of crops we were planning. We also felt that since the Rose Apple Tree, although having made a beautiful forest of itself on the property, is an invasive species to this island and there were native plants that might have been suffocated. We were hopeful and excited to see what we might find hibernating under the forest.

This was to be a big undertaking for us, considering we had no equipment and were a small group of, albeit strong, powerful, and gifted in many ways….all women! So we did the only logical thing we could – hired men and their toys!
